Parent Commitment Mother's Day 2009

Today is Mother's Day and is typically our largest parent commitment day of the year. Because of the flu scare we had a few less than we would have but parents still braved the "risk" and came on out with their little ones.

Here is a peek at what we do for this day. We have plans to do a few more things differently in the future to help parents understand why we do this. But for now this is the Milestone event that we want to share with you.

There is the arrival...

Some of us getting those last minute bites of breakfast muffin.

What the people in worship are looking over that they found in their worship guide.

What the parents are given when they walk in...

My list...with all the corrections and last name pronunciation assists :-)

Then the wait to walk in....
Peeking in and listening to see when we need to go in....
The choir is almost in place... so time to walk in..
What we see when we come onto the platform...people are welcoming each other.
About to start the presentation... I am up :-) whoopppss.
My lav was on mute. lol Sorry Heather.

Dr. Stephen praying for these sweet families and us as we journey with them in
this parenthood adventure.

Now to turn around and let the choir sing "May You Grow In His Likeness" to us.

The mommies always cry. I tear up too. Sweet song.

Waiting for the 2nd service Parent Commitment to start. Pure torture to an active 2 year old :-)

Parents waiting to go in. Trying hard to do those last minute clean ups and primping.

Barely miss the spit ups...but all is good :-)

And then we are all done and loving a special day that we had to share with our families and church family. Praying for Gods grace and guidance as we walk through each day in this parenting adventure.

Swine Flu Update #2

LISD schools are back in session as of Thursday. How does this impact us at FBC? We still will not have Wednesday night activities but CDC will be back in session Friday. However there will be no fellowship night on Friday night. Sunday all will be back to normal.

Thanks for hanging in there with us as we have tried to follow guidelines from Denton County Health dept. and LISD closings.

By the way, the Kidz Praise choirs will perform Sunday night May 17th at 7 PM come on out and enjoy all their hard work.

Swine Flu impacts

Due to the Swine Flu epidemic and concerns we took the precautionary step to cancel our CDC program today and will follow the LISD example for next week as well. Which means we will not have CDC next week. However, we will be making the days up at the end of the CDC year. When these dates are available we will post them.

Am sad that we had to postpone Camp Momanmee. Susan and I were really excited about having a Piratey good time with our pre-k and kindergarten little boys and their mommies. But we have tentatively re-scheduled it for June 19th.

As far as Sundays we will still have all planned activities unless otherwise stated on our churches website http://www.fbclewisville.org/ So this means this Sunday is Children's Day. We will celebrate our children in the morning services and then celebrate WITH them during their musical Sunday night at 7 PM.

Wednesday evening activities for this week have been cancelled. We will resume AWANA on May 13th for our Cubbies Awards ceremony. Sparks and T and T will celebrate their awards night on the 20th.

One reminder to parents, please take every precaution to keep your sick kiddoes at home. Remember our well child policies: if your child has a fever of 100.4 or above please keep them home until they are fever free for 24 hours. Also remember to remind your children to wash their hands after going to the bathroom, sneezing, etc.

Our commitment to our families is to provide as clean a preschool and children's area as possible. This is not a new procedure. We strive to take every precaution necessary before you leave your child in our care to clean and sanitize surfaces that your child plays and sleeps on. This includes crawly mats, crib mattresses and rails, changing stations, toys, as well as tables, chairs, and other hard surfaces that they come into contact with.

Again, keep checking the church's website for updates about worship services and cancellations.

A VERY busy Saturday at FBCL

We had a very busy Saturday in the neighborhood. We started off the day hosting a backyard Bible club in one of the neighborhoods down the road. These kiddoes are so sweet. Of course the older ones would hate that title: they are so "cool". But its always a lot of fun interacting with them. Wish there was a way to do this more often. Then we ended up the busy day at Parker Square where hundreds of our neighborhood families came out for our Annual Easter Eggstraveganza. There were lots of eggs being hunted, bouncing in bounce houses, and pony rides going on.

here is a link to the pics. Enjoy the few I was able to get.
